Egypt President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi will head to Paris on Sunday to head a committee representing African nations taking part in formulating a universal, legally binding UN agreement on climate. Over 135 heads of state will be taking part in the event – 30 November to 11 December– which aims to push for the enacting of global policies to limit the global temperature increase to 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrialisation era levels. Egypt's presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef said that Egypt's participation is of the utmost importance because of its role in leading the African committee. El-Sisi will read out a statement on behalf of African nations to express their support for a potential objective agreement on climate change. The Egyptian president is also set to meet his French counterpart Francois Hollande for broad bilateral talks, as well as other dignitaries from different countries, Youssef added.
