Germany, UK willing to cooperate with Egypt to boost airport security
Ambassadors from Germany and UK meet with Egypt's aviation minister to discuss cooperative measures to boost Egypt's airport security

Egypt's Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal met on Thursday with Germany and Britain's ambassadors to discuss cooperative measures to increase the security of Egyptian airports following the 31 October downing of a Russian airliner, a statement from the ministry read.
Germany's ambassador to Egypt, JuliusGeorgLuy, expressed to Egypt's aviation minister his country's willingness to cooperate and exchange experiences in safety and airport security so that it complies with international standards.
Kamal also welcomed the UK's ambassador to Egypt, John Casson, and a senior British government delegation comprising of aviation and counter-terrorism experts.
Casson stressed his country's keenness to resume flights to and from Sharm El-Sheikh, especially following the latest talks that resulted in an agreement on joint security plans between both countries.
The British ambassador also highlighted his country's priority to protect its citizens without hurting the Egyptian economy.
Kamal expressed Egypt's full understanding of the UK's demands to implement additional security measures to ensure the safety and security of flights in light of the recent escalation of “global terrorism.”
Kamal confirmed that immediate actions have been taken.
The minister further added that the government is committed to implementing procedures so that the country's airports comply with international standards in the fields of security and aviation safety.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi also said on Thursday that his country has taken many steps to boost security at ports of entry and vowed not stop until all security loopholes are closed.
