A sandstorm covered Egypt today, blocking vision in several areas of the country. Ten ports along the Red Sea and the Mediteranian were also closed fearing high waves. Meanwhile, Alexandria and the western North Coast witnessed heavy rain showers, strong winds and high waves, which especially affected fishing activities of small boat fishermen. Because they occurred during the weekend, Egypt's sandstorm did not have a strong impact, but weather specialists expect continued weather instability. Sources say tomorrow, Sunday, will witness a drop in temperature that is expected to last until Monday. Walid Seoudi, Head of the National Agency for Meteorology, expects sandstorms to cover most of Egypt and warns that it might distort vision and affect maritime navigation. He added that in the next days there will be a huge drop in temperature and a proliferation of rain clouds over Cairo, Sinai, the Red Sea mountains and northern Upper Egypt.
