Customs officials at the Cairo International officers announced that they have thwarted an alleged attempt to smuggle stolen Islamic, Coptic monuments and other priceless historical manuscripts out of the country. Hamdi El-Kadi, director of the Central Administration of the Customs Village at the airport, said that a French national attempted to mail a conspicuous parcel that contained monuments and manuscripts to France. El-Kadi added that monument experts at the Customs Village confirmed the authenticity of the parcel's contents and that legal authorities have started a criminal investigation in the case.
