Zaher regime in Egypt Football Association at stake
Zamalek and 51 other clubs signed a statement to withdraw confidence in the current board of the Egyptian Football Association

Fifty-three Egyptian clubs met on Sunday, under what they called “an extraordinary general assembly,” without an inviting the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in order to poll their confidence in the current EFA board.
“With the attendance of 53 clubs, 52 of those [including Zamalek] of the extraordinary general assembly agreed to withdraw their confidence [in the board],” The Cairo based club announced on their official website.
The anti-board sides, who demand the board President Samir Zaher and board members step down, failed to reach the quorum Saturday (the day before) as only 49 representatives from the local clubs attended.
A statement by a third of the Egyptian clubs calling to sack the Mubarak-appointed EFA board have been sent to the EFA itself, Egypt's prime minister, the National Sports Council (NSC), the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and international football council, FIFA.
The EFA fought back on their official website Saturday by stating that the protesting clubs' meeting is not legal, as they are “few in number” and avoided using the term “general assembly,” which would grant some legitimacy to their meeting.
“There are some clubs are determined to break the law,” the EFA stated, adding “We contacted most of the clubs that were named in the meeting and they confirmed that they did not send a representative.”
The EFA condemned last week a letter sent by the clubs to FIFA, in which they complained that EFA ignored their call for an official extraordinary general assembly.
