Arab Contractors board member Sherif Habib has launched a stinging attack on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), accusing them of favoring the so-called popular teams. Habib was infuriated by a statement from EFA president Samir Zaher, in which he promised funds for the cash-strapped clubs. "His comments that he would give those clubs EGP two million are totally unacceptable," Habib told FilGoal.com on Thursday. "The EFA are not the party responsible for financially supporting the clubs. The Egyptian Higher Council for Sports (HSC) are the ones who should do that. "But Zaher is trying to gain the votes of the financially-struggling clubs as the EFA board elections loom." Company-owned clubs, such as Contractors, have adequate financial backing but they do not have a large fan base. On the other hand, popular clubs, who are owned by the government, always suffer from consistent financial crises. Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek are the only exceptions.
