Yehia El-Gamal's National Consensus has requested that the ruling military council take down its Facebook presidential poll, claiming it could adversely impact voters and candidates The National Consensus has sent a request to the armed forces to end the presidential poll they are conducting on their Facebook page. SCAF had conducted a poll asking Egyptians to vote on who their favourite presidential candidate was. Mohamed ElBaradei, the former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), came first. However, the Armed Forces Committee in the National Consensus said that Facebook does not allow moderators to monitor the voting, which means that the results are not necessarily reflective of what the Egyptian people want, and that skewed results may affect the morale of both voters and candidates. The committee also demanded that electronic voting is used in the next elections and asked that Egyptians living abroad be allowed to vote. The National Consensus is a conference led by Deputy Prime Minister Yehia El-Gamal to discuss Egypt's interim period with political analysts, leaders and other interested parties.
