900 torture cases in Egypt must be investigated immediately: rights organisation The prosecutor general is to form a committee to investigate torture cases, but the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights presses for expediency
The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) filed a request on Wednesday to the prosecutor general for the immediate investigation of 900 torture cases reported between 1993 and 2010. The organisation also said it welcomed a declaration made on Tuesday on the part of the prosecutor general that they would form a committee of three judges to investigate all torture cases, whether filed before or after Egypt's January 25 Revolution.
