Domenech linked with Algeria job The Algeria Football Association are in talks with former France coach Raymond Domenech to lead their national team, according to his agents
The representatives of Frenchman Raymond Domenech, Laminak Conseil Agency, revealed on Monday that the Algerian FA are in negotiations with their client. “Domenech has been contacted for the prospect of taking over Algeria,'' Laminak Conseil Agency told French newspaper l'Equipe. ‘'Despite his interest in the job, the French coach hasn't made yet any step forward,” the agency added. Former France coach Domenech helped ‘Les Blues' reach the FIFA World Cup 2006 final, only to lose to Italy on penalties. He was fired from his job last September after a disasterous World Cup campaign in South Africa that saw France walk out from the first round. The Algerian FA are looking for a high-profile coach to replace Abdelhak Benchikha, sacked after the humiliating 4-0 defeat to Morocco in the African qualifiers. Reports have also linked Italian coaching legend Marcello Lippi to the vacancy. Algeria lie at the bottom of their ACN group with four points, three behind Morocco and Central African Republic at the halfway stage.
