On Monday 30 May, Cairo Opera House gave a concert commemorating martyrs and those wounded during the January 25 Revolution with a programme including music and dance performances The event included a large number of artists and groups from the Cairo Opera House: the Cairo Opera Ballet Company, Cairo Opera Company, Cairo Opera Children Choir, and students from the Talents' Development Centres. Singers participating in the event were: Ali El-Haggar, Riham Abdel Hakim, May Farouk, Mostafa Mahfouz, Bassem Abdel Wahab and his father Abdel Wahab El-Sayed. Ali El-Haggar performed many songs to the words by poet Sayed Hegab: Al Mal Wal Banoun (Money and the Children) withmusic byYasser Abdel Rahman, Hona Al Qahera (Here is Cairo) to music byAmmar El Sherei, Bawabet El Halawani (Gate of Halawani) to music by Baligh Hamdy, as well as Oghneyat El Shaheed (Song of the Martyr) with lyricsby Abdel Rahman Al Abnoudi andmusic by Amir Abdel Meguid. Among many songs sung by Bassem Abdel Wahab, Mostafa Mahfouz, May Farouk andRiham Abdel Hakim were Hob El Watan (Love of the Nation) and Ahlef be Samaha we be Torabha (I swearto its Sky and Soil), songs to the poetry of Amin Ezzat Al Hagim, Abdel Rahman Al Abnoudi, Ismail Al Habrouk, Walid El Ghazali and others and to the music byMohamed Abdel Wahab, Kamal El Tawil, Mohamed El Mougui, Mostapha Mahfouz and others. Talents Development Centre performed Oud and Kanoun Dialogue that incorporated national songs while the Cairo Opera Children's Choir, lead by Nadia Abdel Aziz,sang four national songs.
