The UK government has condemned Wednesday's attack at a popular tourist site in Egypt's southern city of Luxor that left five injured. "I strongly condemn the appalling terrorist attack today in Luxor in Egypt," Minister for North Africa Tobias Ellwoodsaid in a statement on Wednesday. Ellwood expressed the UK's support to Egypt in its battle against militants. "The UK continues to stand with the Egyptian government and people in their fight against terrorist violence," he said. On Wednesday, suspected Islamist militants tried to carry out an attack at the ancient Pharaonic temple of Karnak, leaving five --including civilians and members of police-- injured. Two of the militants were killed, one when a bomb he was carrying went off and another after the police shot him. Following the attack, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued orders to intensify security at ancient monuments and other key sites around Egypt. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/132548.aspx
