The 1-1 home league draw with bitter rivals Ismaily seems to have rocked Ahly after the reigning champions failed to close in on Zamalek, extending their gap between the league leaders to eight points to further curtail their title-winning chances. After falling to a goal down in the first half, courtesy of an Amr El-Sulaya strike that bounced off the bar before hitting defender Saad Samir and going into the net, Ahly had to wait till the 83rdminute to equalise via a Moemen Zakareya spot-kick. Despite the draw coming against arch foes Ismaily, the Reds were far from happy with the result - with the reactions of manager Juan Carlos Garrido and football director Wael Gomaa suggesting how dismayed they were. "The result is not satisfactory at all; it would never make me or anyone in the club happy," former Real Betis boss Garrido said right after the game. "We had a chance to settle the game after bringing the score level, but we lacked the presence needed to win the game." Former center-back Gomaa was even more scathing in his criticism of the team, alluding that there are players who are not committed enough to the Cairo giants. "To make it clear, any player who's not committed enough or doesn't have the spirit to give it his all for the club should leave," Gomaa told Egyptian website FilGoal.com. "Defensive blunders have become a phenomenon in the team; opponents now reach your defensive third so easily. "Mistakes are now being continually repeated; everyone should understand that Ahly are a club vying to win every trophy." Meanwhile, technical staff member Alaa Abel-Sadek told Ahly's official website that everyone will be brought to account at the end of the season, while stressing that the club will need to strengthen their ranks. "Everyone will be brought to account at the end of the season; there is no way to take any action midway through the campaign," Abdel-Sadek said. "Yes, we do need to bolster our ranks with quality players, but that topic will be discussed in the upcoming transfer window." Ahly are currently third in the Egyptian league table as they host second-from-bottom Assiuty Sport next week. They will resume their Champions League campaign the following week by travelling to Morocco's Moghreb Tetouan in the competition's last-16 first leg.
