Two Egyptians were killed late Friday in a random shelling in Libya's Benghazi, Egypt's MENA state news agency reported. Their bodies were transported to Benghazi's medical centre and are expected to be repatriated to Cairo soon. Benghazi has become a war zone as two rival governments and a host of militias are competing for power in Libya, with heavy clashes occurring almost daily between Islamist fighters and forces of the internationally recognised government. Egypt has repeatedly issued travel warnings to Egyptians against heading to Libya, which shares a border with the country, since violence erupted in the country in 2011. According to official statements, 800,000 to 900,000 Egyptian expats work and live in Libya. Egyptian authorities have been evacuating Egyptian workers who opt to leave the war-torn country.
