Egypt's renowned journalist and political commentator, Mohamed Hassanein Heikal, paid the Ahram institution premises a visit for the first time in decades. The 87-year-old, deemed the highest-paid Arab writer, was the chief editor of one of Egypt's state-run dailies Al-Ahram from 1957 - 1974. He stepped down after having a disagreement with late president Anwar El-Sadat and hadn't set foot in Ahram until today. In an hour-and-a-half hour seminar held in a hall named after him, Heikal met a host of Ahram journalists and discussed several political topics, as well as possible ways to develop the state-run institution. A few days ago, Ahram Chairman Labib El-Sebai conducted a lengthy interview with Heikal, touching on many sensitive topics.
