Egypt to be at full strength ahead of Equatorial Guinea test Fiorentina winger Mohamed Salah will be the latest foreign-based player to join the Egyptian team on Tuesday
Egypt's foreign- based players joined the national team training session on Monday ahead of Thursday's friendly game against Equatorial Guinea. The Pharaohs, who trained on Sunday with the presence of only the local based players, will play their first match under Argentinean coach Hector Cuper when they host the Guinean team in Cairo. The 59-year-old boss, who helped Valencia reach the UEFA Champions League final twice in 2000 and 2001, took over the seven-time African champions following the sacking of coach Shawky Gharib, under whom Egypt failed to reach this year's Nations Cup. According to the Egyptian Football Association's (EFA) official website, foreign based players Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Elneny, Ahmed Hegazy and Ahmed Koka joined the national team's training on Monday to boost the squad ahead of the anticipated match. Fiorentina winger Mohamed Salah will be the latest to join the Egyptian team after he arrives in Cairo, supposedly on Tuesday. Egypt was initially meant to face Equatorial Guinea in Morocco, but the venue was changed to Cairo's Petro Sport Stadium. The winners of three successive Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) (2006, 2008 and 2010) are currently preparing for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
