Fifty protesters, mostly Libyans, gathered in front of the Libyan Consulate in Alexandria on 19 May. They waved the former Kingdom of Libya flag, adapted by the Transitional National Council, crying anti-Gaddafi slogans such as “Libya Free; Gaddafi Out.” They also held placards showing some of the regime's crimes against the Libyan people. The demonstration took place while the struggle in Libya enters its fourth month, with no decisive win appearing on the horizon for either side. Since the revolution broke out on 17 Feb, it is estimated that between 10,000 and 30,000 people have been killed, and around 750,000 have fled the country. The UN has received $144 million for its Libyan humanitarian mission, and had requested $300 million. Neighbouring Tunisia and Egypt—Alexandria in particular—have both witnessed an influx of Libyan refugees as the exodus continues.
