An explosion caused an electricity pylon to fall in Egypt's Sharqiya governorate early Saturday, which then led to a power outage in the village of Al-Ghafareya. Unknown assailants used four improvised explosives to destroy the pylon, an initial police investigation revealed. Alternate pylons will be used to supply Al-Ghafareya village with electricity until a new pylon is built, the manager of electricity lines in Sharqiya, Hamdy Metwally, told official news agency MENA. A new pylon will take two weeks to build, at a cost of LE1 million (around $131, 000), he added. Since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, militant attacks on security forces and, more recently, on civilian targets have been on the rise. Electricity pylons and railway tracks are often targeted. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/124142.aspx
