A policeman was killed and two police conscripts injured during five separate attacks on police targets in the governorate of Fayoum early on Friday, state news agency MENA reported. Hassan Abdel-Hakam, 32, was killed when unknown assailants on a motorbike opened fire at a police checkpoint in Fayoum city. His funeral will take place in his home village of Beni Saleh in Fayoum following Friday prayers. A 21-year-old conscript was injured in the same attack. Another conscriptwas injured in an attack on a police station on Ibsheway town police station in the Fayoum governorate, which is south of Cairo. Neither of the conscripts were named by MENA. Three other attacks were also reported at different police locations across the governorate. Police are investigating the incidents. Egypt in recent months has seen a wave of militant attacks, including IEDs, bombs, and shootings. Most target police and army sites but civilians have also been killed and injured in the violence.
