Three judges, Walid El-Shafei, Ayman El-Wardany and Gamal Abd El-Nasser, withdrew from supervising the election runoffs after filing a note to the Higher Election Committee (HEC) explaining their reasons. El-Shafei explained that he had faced severe assaults from security police as he was supervising the process in Badrashin city in the 6th of October governorate. The Egyptian Judges Club issued a statement condemning the assaults experienced by El-Shafei, saying that they would not let it pass without consequences. Meanwhile, the North Giza Prosecution office has been investigating the case filed by Ahmed El-Zanad, head of Judges' Club, against Amr Khafagui, chief editor of Shorouk newspaper, and Hisham El-Miany, a journalist at Shorouk, for printing statements by NDP candidate Momena Kamel calling El-Shafei a liar.
