An improvised explosive device exploded on Wednesday, killing a road sweeper in Giza's 6 October City, Ahram Arabic news webste reported. Preliminary investigations reveal the victim was collecting garbage from the street when he found an odd device. When he tried to examine the device, it exploded, fatally injuring him. Explosives experts have combed the area for more devices. A number of small bombs detonated in the past few months in the City,a residential and industrial suburb on the western outskirts of Cairo. Bombings and shootings by Islamist militants have become commonplace in the capital and other parts of the country since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi. The bloodiest attacks, however, have occurred in the border Sinai region, where the army is combating a decade-long militant insurgency that has spiked in the last year and a half. Hundreds of police and military troops have been killed in North Sinai.
