A person was injured when a home-made bomb exploded in Cairo's Heliopolis district on Tuesday, according to Ahram's Arabic news website. Three cars were damaged in the blast, which left no casualties. Security forces are combing the area to make sure there are no further explosive devices. The use of home-made bombs and improvised explosives has been on the rise recently, taking centre stage after the large-scale militant attacks against security forces decreased. Egypt's army is battling an Islamist insurgency that has spiralled since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013. Hundreds of security personnel have been killed in militant attacks nationwide, with the most ferocious assaults taking place in the restive Sinai Peninsula and Cairo. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/102314.aspx
