Egypt's Salah can't leave Chelsea, says coach Mourinho Jose Mourinho affirms that sought-after player Salah will stay at Chelsea, despite not finding a regular place in the Blues squad
Despite warming the bench, Egypt winger Mohamed Salah is still wanted at Chelsea. Coach Jose Mourinho declared there is no possibility of letting Salah go in the winter transfer window. "He [Salah] can't leave. I have 20 players. Today, with Didier [Drogba] a bit ill and [Cesar] Azpilicueta injured, I had here all my players with young [Nathan] Ake in the stands," the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan tactician told the Blues official website following Saturday's 5-0 result in South Wales. The 22-year-old forward, who is still searching for a regular place in the Chelsea squad since joining the team from Swiss side Basel last year, has been chased by top flight European teams, including Inter, Roma, also in Italy Serie A. "I have a very short squad and I need everybody. For Salah to leave, somebody has to come, and I don't think we are going to let Salah go on loan and buy a £50 million player." Salah has played seven games so far this season, but has failed to find the net.
