Chelsea's Mourinho wants Ivorian Drogba to stay Chelsea boss extols the performance of the Ivory Coast striker after the 3-0 win over Tottenham in the English Premier League
After preserving their unbeaten start and six-point lead of the English Premier League by defeating London rival Tottenham, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has praised the performance of his players as well as their mentality during the game. Chelsea claimed a 3-0 win over Tottenham in the 13th matchday of season on Wednesday thanks to first-half goals in a three-minute span by Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba, followed by a third from substitute Loic Remy. The 51-year-old tactician Mourinho praised the performance of Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba. "Drogba is remarkable. First of all he's a team player, after that, he's one of these with an old days mentality," Mourinho was quoted as saying during the post game press conference. "He's not selfish, not vain, a humble guy who plays and fights for the team," he added. Mourinho also revealed his desire to keep Drogba in the squad for a long time as his current deal is due to expire at the end of the ongoing season. "He (Drogba) came here to stay, I want him to stay, the club want him to stay," Mourinho said. "It will be his decision when he decides to stop as a player, something personal. "The important thing is he is here and will finish his career with Chelsea. It looks, for me, that he's going to stay doing other things when he finishes his career." The 36-year-old striker Drogba made a remarkable return to Chelsea last summer, signing a one-year deal to rejoin the club where he wrote his name into the record books and spearheaded the most successful period in their history.
