I'm like a diesel, I need time, says misfiring Drogba No fireworks from Chelsea legend Didier Drogba in draw against Schalke - but he's not giving up yet, he says
Ivorian striker Didier Drogba played his first Champions League game for Chelsea since his glorious 2012 final, but he failed to show any glimpse of his past in a 1-1 home draw against Schalke. The 36-year old striker rejoined Chelsea this summer but just recovered from an ankle injury to make the starting lineup on Wednesday. "For a first game they were okay, kind of okay. The good thing is no pain in the ankle, so now I can start working and training and improve the condition. I was feeling much better in the second half. I'm like a diesel, I need time," he was quoted as saying on Sky Sports. Drogba squandered two chances from Eden Hazard and Willian and his team was punished as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar grabbed the equaliser for the Germans. "I had chances, especially the one in the second half. It was a clear chance and I think it's unlucky. "If I score there there's no more game. The fact that you don't score, they still believe in the equaliser and that's what happened afterwards," he concluded. Drogba knows he is way past his prime – a legend at Chelsea who scored 157 goals during his first eight-year spell. But he has also said that he didn't come to Stamford Bridge to sit on the bench and so he'll have to rise up to the challenge against an in-form Diego Costa, who scored seven goals in four Premier League matches, as well as from Loic Remy.
