Ahly have pulled off a 2-0 victory away from home at Gouna to hand the coastal side their first home defeat in the Egyptian league on Saturday. A first half goal from up-and-coming full-back Hussein El-Sayed and a late second from Emad Meteb were enough to give Ahly all three points after the hosts gave the reigning champions some hard time after the break. Meteb had a late second-half penalty denied by Gouna keeper Amer Mohamed before making amends in the third minute of a five-minute stoppage time. The Cairo giants, who still have three games in hand, moved fourth of the league table on 27 points, seven adrift of leaders Zamalek who meet sixth-placed Petrojet later in the day. El-Sayed gives Ahly the lead Ahly enjoyed most of the possession in the first period, with Gouna setting out defensively to deny the visitors spaces inside the Hurghada-based side's half. However, winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet's moves infield caused Gouna problems, and it was just 15 minutes on the clock when he managed to create his side's opener. Despite being marked by an opponent, Trezeguet released El-Sayed with a brilliant through pass from the middle, as the pacey left-back ran onto the ball behind the opposition's full-back to finish delightfully past the keeper. Just three minutes later, Gouna midfielder Mahmoud El-Sayed wished he could have bagged the leveler, but saw a shot from inside the area parried by keeper Mosaad Awad. Striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher, who did not produce his best of matches in the evening, replied with another strike that narrowly went wide just one minute from half time. Meteb makes sure of victory Gouna looked determined in the opening stages of the second period, pouring men forward search of the equalizer. Five minutes after the interval, wide man Ahmed Afify saw a cross-cum-shot narrowly miss the target, just a few minutes after the home side saw a strike from outside the box go inches wide. With Ahly failing to mount any threats, it was Ethiopia striker Saladdin Said who was guilty of wasting a golden chance when he was found unmarked by the in-form Trezeguet inside the box. Gouna full-back Saad Hosny then responded with a free kick 15 minutes from normal time, but keeper Awad was there to thwart it. But Ahly, who seemed less dangerous in the second half, had a chance to double their lead when the referee awarded them a penalty kick after Karim Tarek handled the ball inside the area. Substitute Meteb, however, failed to convert the spot kick, with the keeper doing well to deny his weak shot in the 82ndminute. The veteran striker was also guilty of another glaring miss when strike partner Said's weak shot was blocked by keeper Amer, with Meteb blasting high on the rebound just five minutes from the end. But he finally managed to make up for his spurned chances when he headed full back Mohamed Hany's cross deep into stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt.
