The family of Peter Greste, an Al-Jazeera journalist jailed in Egypt, describes his retrial as a 'positive step'

The family of jailed Al Jazeera journalist Peter Greste have described the decision to order a retrial in his case as "a positive outcome."
"Whilst we hoped that today would have brought the dropping of all charges and Peter to be released. A positive outcome at least is the recognition that the first trial was flawed and now we work to clear Peter's and his colleagues' names," his family said via Facebook.
The Court of Cassation accepted on Thursday an appeal filed against the jail sentences handed down to three jailed Al-Jazeera journalists and ordered a retrial to be scheduled.
The family announced that it would hold a press conference on Friday morning in Brisbane, Australia.
Journalists of the Doha-based network – Egyptian-Canadian Cairo bureau chief Mohamed Fahmy, Egyptian producer Baher Mohamed and Australian correspondent Peter Greste – were sentenced last June to jail terms ranging from seven to 10 years on charges of spreading false news and aiding the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group in a trial that caused international outcry.
