15 Zagazig students referred to military court
Students at Zagazig University in Sharqyia have been referred to military trials on various charges, including belonging to a terrorist organisation

Fifteen students at Zagazig University were referred to a military court on Saturday on charges of belonging to a terrorist organisation, reported Aswat Masryia.
The Sharqiya prosecution referred the students on charges of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood, rioting, resisting authorities and destroying public property.
The Muslim Brotherhood was designated a terrorist organisation in December 2013 after its member, Mohamed Morsi, was ousted from the presidency in July of last year. Following Morsi's ouster, security forces also cracked down on his supporters, leaving hundreds killed in clashes and thousands arrested.
The prosecution's investigation stated that tens of students had demonstrated on the campus of Zagazig University, in the Nile Delta's Sharqiya governorate, chanting anti-military slogans.
The investigators added that the students later gathered in front of the campus, which is located opposite to the police club, before they blocked the road and threw rocks at the police club headquarters. Clashes erupted between students and security leaving three soldiers injured.
Clashes between students and security have become frequent over the past year. As pro-Morsi street demonstrations started to dwindle, his supporters focused their activism on university campuses.
The referral of civilians to military courts has been a subject of much criticism since the 2011 revolution. A campaign has been ongoing against the military trials of civilians.
A presidential decree issued last October subjected the security of a large number of public establishments to the mandate of military facilities, allowing any assaults against it to fall under military jurisdiction.
