Adebayor criticises Mancini, wants to stay at Real Emmanuel Adebayor hopes to stay with Real Madrid due to problems with Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini
Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor said on Sunday that it will be difficult for him to play under the guidance of Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini next season. The 27-year-old joined Spanish giants Real Madrid in January on a loan deal that will expire at the end of the season, after which he should return to English big-spending side City. "There is a huge difference between Mancini and (Real Madrid coach Jose) Mourinho," he told the News of the World. "Jose has personality, character and he's not afraid to talk to you, whoever you are. "At City I didn't exist. Mancini didn't talk to me and people had forgotten about me. "But then you hear Real Madrid want you and it lifted me immediately. I thought, 'Okay, this means I am a good player'." The former Arsenal man said he lost his self-confidence under Mancini, whom he accused of habitually criticising him. "I needed the manager to help me become a better player, but he was always criticising me," he said. "Mancini had no confidence in me at all. For him, whatever I did was wrong. "I remember scoring a hat-trick but he said I should have scored more. I tried a few times to talk to him man to man, but he never explained why he didn't like me," Adebayor concluded.
