Unregistered Mido's problems continue Zamalek forward 'Mido' will not wear the Whites' shirt this season after FIFA refused to send the player's international licence following more delays by his club to submit the correct documents
The international football governing body, FIFA, has refused to send Zamalek the international licence of their star Ahmed Hossam “Mido” after the team's management delayed sending them the required papers. Early last month, Zamalek's management sent a formal, written letter to FIFA excusing themselves for sending just one copy of Mido's contract to the governing body and petitioning them to send the player's licence so he can take part in the current season. FIFA asked the Egyptian football Association (EFA) to send the full copies of the player's contract for Mido's international licence to be cleared. After the Egyptian League leaders repeated their mistakes and delayed sending FIFA the full copies of Mido's contract, the international football governing body refused to send the player's international licence. Zamalek have the right to lodge an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within 21 days from the decision. However, the club's current financial problems have hindered the Whites from so far taking any action. The 28-year old Mido now has the option to either receive his salary from Zamalek without playing or joining another club on a free transfer. The former Middleborough, Tottenham, Roma and Marseille striker signed a three-year and a half contract with the Cairo giants last January without disclosing the financial details.
