FIFA, Interpol team up to fight match-fixing FIFA and international police agency Interpol will meet next week to step up football's fight against match-fixing and corrupt betting
FIFA says its president Sepp Blatter and Interpol secretary general Ronald Noble will announce progress after a session scheduled Monday at FIFA headquarters. Blatter has acknowledged football's problem with international matches being organized specifically for betting scams. In February, two friendly matches _ involving Latvia and Bolivia, Estonia and Bulgaria _ were played in Turkey where all seven goals were scored from penalties. FIFA charged six match officials from Hungary and Bosnia over their alleged part in the fixes. A Singaporean man who organized the matches has not been traced.
