An improvised explosive device has exploded in Fayoum governorate, central Egypt, injuring one person, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported. The blast occurred near a flyover in Fayoum city on Wednesday, injuring a secondary school student. He was taken to hospital with a foot injury. Police and explosives experts arrived at the incident site. Explosions have been recurrent nationwide, particularly targeting police and army sites and personnel, amid a jihadist insurgency against the government.
