Sunday 21 September All Quiet on the Western Front screening at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, 6pm The 1930 film by Lewis Milestone showcases the horrors of the World War I, following a young soldier's disillusionment at the frontlines of the war. Bibliotheca Alexandrina Auditorium, Alexandria Opening of Interruption at the Townhouse Gallery, 7pm Interruption features works by young artists Amna Badawy, Nouran Sherif, Muhammad Taymour, Reem El-Maghraby, Shadwa Ali, Tuqa El-Harouny and is curated by Shehab Awad. Seven characters visit their psychologist, where they face themselves, their loved ones and what is important to them. Thus the couch in Beirut becomes a window into the city's residents, their hopes and dreams. The film is directed by Mahmoud Hojeij and was featured in the Dubai International Film Festival in 2013. Garbage Plastic Exhibition at Darb 1718 Darb 1718 Contemporary Art and Culture Centre invites you to Out to Sea? The Plastic Garbage Project, an exhibition that opened on 19 September, running from 4pm to 11pm. Out to Sea? is an environmental educational project that began at the Museum fur Gestaltung Zurich (Museum of Design, Zurich) in 2012, toured Europe and is now implemented for the first time in the Middle East in Egypt by Darb 1718. The exhibition will tour Cairo, Alexandria and the Red Sea. The project aims to create an educational experience to raise awareness regarding the hazards of plastic garbage ending up in the world's seas. Educational and art activities will take place to teach visitors different techniques on how to use plastic waste to make beautiful and practical items. Read more on the projecthere. Qasr Al-Shamee Street, Al-Fakhareen, Old Cairo (behind the Hanging Church and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque) Screening of 5 Broken Cameras at Arab Digital Expression Foundation, 7pm Co-direct by Palestinian Emad Burnat and Israeli Guy Davidi, the 94-minute documentary focuses on turmoil in the West Bank city of Bilin. The film is centered around Burant's family and is filmed over five years. Burnat won the Directing Award at Sundance Film Festival in 2012 for the film. The performance is a product of improvisation sessions. The play was previously performed as part of theNational Theatre Festivalearlier this year. Thursday 25 September Cinema lesson at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, 6pm Within its regular cinema lectures series, the fourth lesson will focus on film editing techniques. The lecture will be lead in Arabic by film editor Rahma Montasser. Free entry.
Lebanese artists at Makan at 8pm Wael Kodeih and Randa Mirza will take a stage in the performance dubbed Love & Revenge. The evening is first in the Bidoun Takleef series, a project launched by the Culture Resource (Al Mawred Al Thakafy) organisation to mark its tenth anniversary. The Lebanese artists will also perform Love & Revenge at Vent cultural space on 27 September, at the Egyptian Centre for Culture and Arts (Makan). The first concert under this theme took place in 2008 in Cairo and ever since the choir has performed the programme across Egypt and internationally. This time CCC will be joined by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Choir in their performance of compositions by Sayed Darwish, Gamal Abdel Rehim and Awatef Abdel Kerim, arranged for voice by Nagui.
Jazz with Boghdady band at Cairo Opera House, 8pm Brass band founded and conducted by Magdy Boghdady will perform a selection of well-known jazz compositions topped with a few works by Egyptian composers.
Tamer Abou Ghazala, El-Genaina Theatre, 8:30pm With unparalleled command on the oud and powerful vocals, Palestinian singer and producer Tamer Abou Ghazala will take to the stage at Azhar Park alongside Shadi El-Hosseiny on the piano, Mahmoud Waly on bass guitar and Khyam Allami on the drums. Abou Ghazala, who founded music aggregatorEka3, boasts a catalogue of collaborations with various Arab artist. He studied at the National Conservatory of Music and later under renowned Palestinian musician Khaled Jubran.

Saturday 27 September Beethoven with Cairo Symphony Orchestra at Cairo Opera House, 8pm The concert will open with Beethoven's King Stephan (König Stephan) Overture, followed by the composer's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 61 with soloist Lidia Baich. SWING and 10 Minutes? dance performances at the British Council, 10pm NUT Dance Company (NDC), a Cairo-based contemporary dance company, will host two consecutive performances by two different choreographers. The brainchild of Nagham Salah Othman, SWING explores the parallel reality in which non-conformists to society are driven into. 10 Minutes? was first performed in 2009 as a 5 minute piece under the title 5 Minutes?.
