We are looking for a good start in the African qualifiers, says Pharaohs director Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Hassan admits the difficulty of the Pharaohs group in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, adding that they are determined to make a comeback
A few days before Egypt's anticipated clash against Senegal in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Pharaohs' director and former captain, Ahmed Hassan, said on Monday that his side are looking for a good start at Friday's clash. Egypt will launch their campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday with an away game against Senegal before hosting Tunisia four days later. After missing the last two editions of the tournament, the Pharaohs are looking to return to the African stage despite the difficulty of their group. Egypt were drawn in group G alongside Senegal, Tunisia and Botswana. Winners and the runners-up of the seven groups will qualify automatically for the finals in Morocco alongside the best third placed team. "Our group [Group G] is tough. But we are ready for the challenges ahead," Ahmed Hassan told CAF online one Monday. "I'm appealing to all to rally behind the Pharaohs to have a good start," he added Hassan who won four African titles as a player said that the Pharaohs are determined to reach the continental tournament after missing the last two editions. "Egypt is expected at every Africa Cup of Nations. Big guns like the Pharaohs shouldn't have missed the last two editions. Our target now is to have our place back in Morocco 2015," he added.
