Senegal clash will be tough, says Egypt coach Shawky Gharib speaks about Egypt preparation for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starting with Senegal away match on 5 September
Egyptian National team manager, Shawky Gharib stated that the 2015 African Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers opening match against Senegal will be tough but that his team is determined to win its precious three points. "A strong start is very important. Yes, the Senegalese team will be boosted by their fans on their home field, but we have no choice but to win," Gharib told state news agency MENA Thursday. Gharib – who won the CAN three times in a row (2006, 2008 and 2010) as an assistant to coach Hassan Shehata – is bidding for a return through tournament host Morocco's championship gates. The team missed the last two editions in 2012 and 2013 under American manager Bob Bradley. "We already know that we are in a very difficult group but we want our flag return to the place it deserves in the African football scene," the coach added. In the 2015 CAN qualifiers, Egypt will play in Group G along with Tunisia, Senegal and Botswana. They are scheduled to be hosted by the Senegalese team on 5 September in the qualifiers opener. He also spoke of preparation camp in Aswan which is due to start 1September, adding that the location had been selected because of its climate, which is similar to that of Senegal.
