Published in Ahram Online on 10 - 08 - 2014

Independent production 'Waking Up,' directed and performed by Doaa Hamza, is set to be performed in Al-Ghad Theatre, as part of Egypt's National Theatre Festival, on 17, 18 August.
The monodrama, based on Dario Fo's 1977 classic text, Il Risveglio, explores the life of one woman in the morning as she strives to get ready for work, and in the process tells the audience her stories and frustrations.
The performance was previously staged at the Rawabet Theatre in April and June, via the Nahda Association for Arts and Science Theatre.
'Waking Up' is performed and directed by Hamza, with support from executive director Tareq Shalaby, and light design by Saber El-Sayed.
This performance is independent in nature and produced without any funding. Doum Foundation for Culture was a supporter in giving the team a free space to host their rehearsals.
Programme:
Sunday 17 August at 7.30pm
Monday 18 August at 9pm
El-Ghad Theatre, El-Nil Street, next to Balon Theatre, El-Agouza, Giza
