Salah eyes Premier League, Champions League titles with Chelsea The Egypt star has been training hard during the last few weeks, despite fasting daily for Ramadan
Egypt ace Mohamed Salah has his eye on the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles with Chelsea ahead of his first full campaign at Stamford Bridge. In an interview with Chelsea's official website, Salah - who joined from Swiss side Basel in the winter break this year - spoke of his ambitions with the Londoners during an impressive pre-season, which saw him score two goals in as many friendlies so far. "I'm very happy to have scored two goals in pre-season so far, it's always good to score but the most important thing for me is to make sure I help the team win every game," he said. "I hope having pre-season with my team-mates will help me next season. We've done well so far, the training has been very good, intense and we are improving all the time." The 21-year-old scored in the second half to help Chelsea to a 3-2 win over Wimbledon before linking up with new recruit Diego Costa to hit the opener in the second win over Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem two days ago. Ramadan Salah also talked about the difficulties he encountered during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which finished on Sunday. He told the website that he had been training while fasting despite the hot weather in Austria, where Chelsea are currently holding their pre-season camp. "Ramadan was a bit difficult for me because we had two training sessions every day. The weather was very hot and I played in every game. I wasn't even able to drink water until 9.30pm," he explained. "Although I am used to it, it's finished now and I can eat and drink as normal. When you train twice a day your energy levels drop by the second session, but it means a lot to me so I'm very happy and I feel good." Chelsea to challenge for double With just two weeks to go until the start of the Premier League, the ex-Arab Contractors man says he is focusing on the domestic competition and the Champions League with the Blues after adapting to the demands of the English game. "The aim is for us to win the Premier League and Champions League. It's important for a club like Chelsea to challenge for every competition we enter and hopefully we can do that," he said. "In terms of myself, I don't usually like to set too many targets but I just want to improve as a player as much as I can and help my team-mates become successful." Salah has bagged two goals for Chelsea in 10 Premier League appearances, most of which came as a substitute last season.
