India to be guest of honour at Cairo International Book Fair, 2016 Agreement signed between Egypt and India aims to increase partnership in both countries' book fairs, as well as boost cultural relations
India has been announced as the guest of honour at Cairo International Book Fair 2016, according to the General Egyptian Book Organisation (GEBO), the official organiser of the fair. Ahmed Megahed, head of the GEBO, signed a cooperation agreement with the Indian embassy in Cairo that aims to develop and advance the bilateral cultural relations between Egypt and India through the Cairo International Book Fair and the Delhi International Book Fair. The agreement states that both fairs will offer a free wing to each other in the next fairs, with India as the guest of honour in Cairo in 2016. Megahed said in a press release that the agreement asserts the "distinguished cultural relations between Egypt and India and a step towards reinforcing the culture of dialogue, especially with the rich cultural legacy of India, which is very diverse." Cairo International Book Fair is held between January and February each year. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/103747.aspx
