Pharaohs' Gharib hails Egypt players despite Chile defeat
Egypt coach Shawky Gharib says new faces proved their worth in Chile match Saturday, promises to solve team's defensive problems in Wednesday's friendly against Jamaica

Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has hailed his players despite Saturday's loss to Chile, vowing to amend his team's mistakes in the near future.
The Pharaohs failed to give Gharib a second win in as many matches after throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 in World Cup-bound Chile at an exciting friendly in Santiago.
"I am satisfied with the players' performance, especially those newcomers like Qhaled kamar, Hazem Emam and Amr Gamal," Gharib was quoted as saying by Ahram Sport after the match.
"My team was a tough opponent for the Chile players who will be participating in the World Cup within a few days," he added.
Egypt also meet Jamaica 4 June in London, as they prepare for the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers where they were drawn into another crunch group alongside powerhouses Tunisia and Senegal.
"We will try to make the best use of the Jamaica friendly to stop our defensive errors ahead of the African qualifiers. Also we will give a chance for some new faces, as Ahly and Zamalek players will not be available due to their club's continental commitments," Gharib said.
The loss to Chile was Egypt's first defeat under Gharib, who took over after American tactician Bob Bradley departed following his failure to guide the World Cup-hungry side to next month's Brazil finals.
In Gharib's first game in charge, the seven-time African champions defeated Bosnia — who will also play in the World Cup — 2-0 in Austria in March.
