Ahly to miss keeper Ekramy in Champions League match Ahly are likely to face Zambia's ZESCO United in the Champions League without injured goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy
Ahly may have to do without goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy when they face Zambian side ZESCO United in the first leg of the African Champions League round of 16 next weekend. Ekramy missed Ahly's training session on Friday after aggravating a knee complaint, the Red Devils' doctor told the club's official website. “He felt pain due to inflammations of the knee, but he should return to training soon,” Dr Walid Abdel-Baki revealed. Ekramy, who returned to his boyhood club in January 2010, has been out of action since sustaining the knee injury in November last year. Stand-in guardian Ahmed Adel has so far not proved reliable. He was at fault for the goal Ahly conceded in a 2-1 Egyptian Premier League win over Ittihad El-Shorta on Wednesday. Ahly, who overcame South African outfit SuperSport United in the preliminary round, take on ZESCO for a place in the Champions League group stage. The Cairo giants are the record holders of Africa's premier club competition with six titles under their belt. They last won the competition in 2008 at the expense of Cameroonian side Coton Sport.
