BENI SUEF, Egypt: Former parliamentarian and professional seat candidate Essam Khalaf was shot at while in his car by bandits during his trip back from an electoral round on the agricultural road leading to Mayhoub al-Dib in Beni Suef. Khalaf was driving his car when he noticed barriers of steel sleepers placed in the middle of the road and stopped, when gunfire opened on his car. Someone accompanying him was injured. Chief of the Security Directorate in Beni Suef General Atteya Mazroua decided to form an investigative team headed by Brigadier Generals Reda Tableya and Mamdouh Abu Zeid when he received a proclamation of the incident.
