The Second Constituency of the Administrative Judiciary Court, headed by Chancellor Karem Abdel Lateef, did not accept the candidacy papers of businessman Ramy Lakah, after it was proven he held French nationality as well as Egyptian. The court based in its judgment on a document submitted by the Passport and Immigration Department of the Ministry of Interior, which indicated that Lakah has not given up his French nationality. The court said that nationality is the link between the individual and the country itself, and a person holding dual nationality has dual loyalty. Lakah said he respected the verdict but would appeal against the judgment, claiming that he did not hold any other nationality except Egyptian.
