CAIRO: Jordanian lawyer Salah Ahmed says he has come to Egypt to defend Bashar Abu Zaid, who is accused of spying for Israel in Egypt after being employed by the father of the accused to do so. Ahmed said that he visited Bashar in his cell in Tora Prison and assured him of his innocence. He said he trusts the Egyptian judiciary will mete out justice and that the Egyptian government is keen on maintaining ties with Jordan. Ahmed said if evidence were found and Abu Zaid were found guilty that he and the Jordanian people would be satisfied with the verdict.
