CAIRO: The Egyptian Federation of Independent Trade Unions accused the designated Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri of forming a government composed of former regime figures. There was news el-Ganzouri is going to choose between Ahmed Abdel Zaher, Chairman of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Egypt, and Ismail Fahmi, former Minister of Trade in Ahmed Shafik's government, as the new Minister of Manpower and that El-Ganzouri preferred the latter. The federation said in a statement they will fight fiercely to maintain its gains, which were snatched from the clutches of the former regime after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution. The federation added in a statement, "the independent trade unions will continue to fight vigorously against remnants of the former regime." The federation called upon its two million plus members to protest in Tahrir Square if any figure of the former regime is chosen as minister.
