CAIRO: Egypt's State Security Prosecution today extended the detention of political activist Alaa Abdel Fattah for an additional 15 days for investigations. Abdel Fattah's case was moved from military prosecution to civil prosecution by order of Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt's ruling military council. Abdel Fattah was arrested in October in relation to the deadly October 9 Masprio clashes. He is accused of stealing military weapons and assaulting military police during the clashes, which left 27 dead.
