CAIRO: The coalition of independent culture said organized monthly events entitled Fan al-Midan in several Egyptian governorates since April 2011. Fan al-Midan will be organized for an open call for artists, writers and intellectuals to join the sit-ins and protests in Tahrir Square and throughout squares in Egypt in the month of December. Coalition members will take part in these protests as citizens, as well as artists and intellectuals, using their creativity to express the aspirations of Egyptians to freedom and true democracy. They will also be in protest against oppression, dictatorship, murder and corruption. The coalition decided to form a group to support the families of martyrs and spread awareness of the value of sacrifice made by these families for the future of Egypt in an urgent meeting on Thursday November 24. The coalition will disseminate prints of information and pictures of the martyrs who have fallen recently, in addition to literary and artistic materials. The coalition of independent culture was established in February 26, 2011 after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution.
