‘Al-Fan Midan,' which translates to ‘the art is a field,' festival is resumed again after it stopped in July because lack of funding. It will take place in Abassiya Square. Organizers of the festival asked visitors to bring their own Ramadan lantern in order to light the square. It is a habit for Egyptians to buy lanterns during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan. Activities of the festival will be carried throughout nine governorates in Egypt; Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Wadi Gedid, Mansoura, Kafr el-Sheikh, Damietta, Port Said and Arish. The festival presents open discussions with writers and intellectuals, performances of West Balad band, puppet show and circus performances, art workshops and plastic art exhibitions. Many famous figures will attend the festival, such as researcher Ammar Ali Hassan, poet Yaser Lythy and chanter Ali Halabawi. The festival will present documentary movies for January 25 Revolution.
