CAIRO: New Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri today asked the Police Officers Coalition to elected a new Interior Minister, reported Coalition Spokesman Ahmed Ragab. “El-Ganzouri today met with Yasser Aboul Magad and I for a half hour for the first time since he accepted his new post,” Ragab said. “The prime minister said that the new Interior Minister must be a young general who is known for his good reputation and efficiency,” Ragab continued. “The members of the police coalition agree that a new minister must be elected.” “The new Interior Minister will practice his post from the street, not from an office,” el-Ganzouri today reported, said Ragab. El-Ganzouri also allegedly asked Ragab and Aboul Magad to be the liason between the new minister and the Coalition so that the Ministry of Interior can be effectively reformed, as per January 25 Revolution demands. “I do not oppose youth holding ministerial posts,” el-Ganzouri said. “The Police Officers Coalition will hold a meeting to discuss the election of a new Minister,” Ragab said. “The Police Coalition members will work to achieve stability so as to attract investment and improve the national economy,” he continued.
