Preliminary results for General Syndicate of Engineers however.elections has placed Maged Kholousy as the front-runner to head the syndicate. Kholousy is a candiate from the Muslim Brotherhood list. As vote counting continues in Cairo and the governorates, Kholousy leads competitor Tareq al-Nabrawy by more than 1,000 votes. Nabrawy has received the majority of votes in Cairo, Brotherhood candidates won the head of the sub-syndicates and the majority of council positions in 14 governorates, including: Qalubiya, Gharbiya, Sharqia, Menoufia, Ismailia, Suez, Dakahlia, Fayoum, Asiut, Aswan, Damietta, Beni Suef, Qena and Giza. Osama Shawqy is close to winning the position of head of the Engineer Syndicate in Cairo, while Akram el-Ganzouri, another Brotherhood candidate, won the position of head of the Engineer Syndicate in Giza. Mohamed el-Beltagy, a member of the Brotherhood-affiliated Freedom and Justice Party's Executive Bureau, visited the headquarters of the General Syndicate of Engineers on Ramsis Street in downtown Cairo yesterday, Friday. His visit coincided with a visit by two leading MB members, Mohamed Ali Beshr and Omar Abdallah, who are responsible for organizing the syndicate's file.
