CAIRO: 40 political parties, coalitions and movements have called for a million man protest on Friday under the title of "Martyrs' rights and people's will." The political powers issued a statement rejecting Field Marshal Tantawi's speech, as it did not meet the people's demands. They added it included many mistakes and did not condemn the crimes committed against demonstrators over the past five days. The statement mentioned the speech did not promise any action against those who killed protesters nor did it include the immediate cessation of all violence and escalating action against protesters across all of Egypt's main squares. The statement went on to emphasize the need for demands to be met and a National Salvation Council with full political and executive power to be formed to run the state's affairs. It also rejected the military council's referendum deciding whether they remain in power or not, as the army's most important duty is protecting the country's borders and not running the state. The statement also stressed that anyone who shot protesters during the recent clashes should be tried and punished.
