CAIRO: Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf met Monday evening with five youth representatives from Tahrir Square prior to officially announcing that he was tendering the government's resignation to the ruling military council, a cabinet source today reported. The representatives told Sharaf that intend to oust the government and Sharaf asked them to protest peacefully and avoid damaging public institutions, the source continued. The meeting also covered the Sharaf-led government performance since he assumed office, including the decision to continue with elections for the new parliament, the source said. Sharaf then informed the youth representatives that the resignations would be tendered to keep the pressure of the people off the ruling military council, the source added. The Cabinet's resignation was leaked over Facebook and Twitter prior to being announced officially yesterday.
